Joan Travis was last seen on March 4, 1998. A relative had driven Joan from Hillsboro to South St. Louis to run errands. While in a parking lot of a convenience store located in the 4300 block of Chippewa Street, Joan started talking to two men in a 1992 or 1993 red Dodge van with a silver stripe and a temporary Illinois sticker in a window. Joan told the relative that she was leaving with the men. The relative later told police he assumed Joan knew the men and that he then returned to Hillsboro without her. Joan has made no bank transactions or picked up her mail since her disappearance.
