Juha Uronen was last seen on December 9, 1980. An exchange student from Finland, Juha arrived in Scarsdale in August of 1980. On the day of his disappearance, Juha arrived home, showered, got dressed, and told his host family that he was going out and would return at 6 p. m. The family reported him missing when he failed to return by 11:45 p. m. Three days later, Juha's wallet was found by a jogger on 61st Street and FDR Drive in Manhattan. It contained the address of his host family but no money. In March of 1981, Juha's bank book was found in a Manhattan mailbox. Police learned Juha had not attended school on the day of his disappearance. He had stopped at a bank and withdrew $70 from his account before returning to the home of his host family. It's believed he was carrying $180 in cash when he left home the final time. His glasses, passport, and personal items were located in his bedroom. His case was reopened by law enforcement in 2002. There are no records that he tried to reenter Finland or re-establish himself in another part of the United States.
