Sanders has not been heard from since June 19, 2001, when he called his family from his mobile phone and said he was on his way home from Columbia, South Carolina. He was seen was around 9:51 p. m. at the Embassy Suites in Columbia, SC where he was planning a bachelor party for a friend. In April 2003, the 1988 Oldsmobile Regency Sanders was driving the night he vanished turned up in the parking lot at Greenbrier Apartments in Northeast Columbia. On October 5, 2005, an arrest was made in Shleton's disappearance.
