Circumstances
Mr. King was last seen at 3:30PM on Tuesday, November 21, 1995 when he left his place of work at a Jasper furniture factory. He missed a scheduled date with his girlfriend Tuesday night and didn't call in sick to work on Wednesday. His vehicle, a 1991 Ford Ranger, was found the next day on a dirt road north of Oakland City near the Patoka River, an area known as Snakey Point. Authorities and family members searched the area where the truck was found, but found no trace of Mr. King. Human blood, hair, and fingerprints were found in and on the vehicle, according to Indiana State Police detective, W. W. George. A witness reported that he saw Mr. King speaking with two men in a gray or silver car that Tuesday evening. The witness stated that King told him he needed to go somewhere, and left with the two individuals and was not seen again. Eight days later, two men fired shots from a gray and black Oldsmobile into King's then-girlfriend's car and smashed one of her headlights. Another story was that an individual told a witness that he killed Mr. King and buried him beneath his garage floor because Mr. King had taken some of his guns. Searches and investigations on these leads have not led to any arrests. His case remains unsolved.
