In May 2025, a hiker near Healing Waters Trail on the Rio Grande in Truth or Consequences located William's ID card, credit cards, gift cards, court documents, and articles of clothing. Williams family was notified of the findings in August of 2025, which they relayed they last heard from William sometime in March 2025, knew him to still be residing in New Mexico. William Waltman is considered missing and endangered.
