Loze was seen on March 29, 1983 in Ventura, CA and worked at the fairgrounds. He went to Calexico for a passport appointment, and eventually stayed at the Kennedy Hotel in Mexicali. On May 24, 1983, Loze was contacted by US Customs while entering back into the US at the Calexico checkpoint.
