Kristopher was last seen leaving his residence in Fairbanks, Alaska on May 16, 2004 with his father Robert Kelly Sr, MP #2936. On May 29, 2004 the victim's older brother Robert Kelly Jr, stopped by to visit and found the residence unlocked and the family dog unattended. On June 1, 2004, the family's vehicle was found parked at the Bentley Mall in Fairbanks, Alaska.
