Li came to the United States on a performing arts Visa with her dance company Splendid. She was staying in a local hotel during the trip. in the early morning hours of 09/16/2000 she was seen leaving her hotel room with all her luggage packed. She didn't tell anyone where she was going, and has had no contact with immigration or the Chinese embassy since she was last seen.
