Knuth was camping with her boyfriend when he reported her missing on August 24, 1981. Knuth left her identification, cigarettes, and other personal items. No traces of Knuth's whereabouts were found in the area or at the campsite. Extensive searches of the area have been performed over the years and yielded no new leads.
