Description

On 4/11/2018 at approximately 1745 hours the Yuma County Medical Examiner's Office received the report of partial skeletal remains found near the area of San Luis, Arizona. The remains were located by USBP Agents in the desert area southwest of San Luis, Arizona. The remains were located at GPS: 32. 5126, -114. 8059 and were recovered and brought to the Yuma County Medical Examiner's Office. The remains consisted of a partial pelvis and a mostly intact femur. An initial forensic anthropological exam was conducted at the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office. Initial information obtained indicated the remains to be female, approximately 57. 4 inches to 64. 1 inches tall. Pathology of the pelvis indicated the potential the decedent may have given birth to a large baby. The bones were possible in the desert for 6 months to approximately 2 years. The remains were mostly skeletal with some soft tissue remaining.
