Description

On 12/5/2022 at approximately 1243 hours, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office contacted the Medical Examiner's Office regarding unidentified skeletal remains in a mountainous desert area south of Tacna, Arizona on the Barry Goldwater Range. The remains were initially located by US Border Patrol Agents on patrol in the area. Remains recovered consisted of a skull, mandible, (15) ribs, (10) spinal fragments, the sacrum, (2) femurs, (2) tibias, (5) long bones, and (10) bone fragments. The remains were recovered and mandible and teeth samples were retained pending possible DNA analysis. No property or clothing was located with the remains.
