Description

On 3/17/2023 the Yuma County Sheriff's Office contacted the Medical Examiner's Office in reference to skeletal remains located in the desert area southeast of Tacna, Arizona, northwest of the North Pinta Tank. The remains were initially located by Deputy Bermudez and members of the National Guard conducting patrols in the area of the Cabeza Prieta Wildlife Refuge. No personal items or clothing were located on or around the remains. The remains consisted of a skull, mandible, four long bones, and three bone fragments. The remains were recovered and transported to the Yuma County Medical Examiner's Office where samples of the mandible and teeth were retained pending possible DNA analysis.
