Description

On 6/11/23 the Yuma County Sheriff's Office notified the Medical Examiner's Office of skeletal remains located in the desert area south of the Fortuna Foothills, west of Fortuna Mine. The remains were initially located by Range Wardens working to find invasive plant species in the area. Deputies responded and the remains were located. The remains consisted of a skull and mandible. No clothing or belongings were located with the remains. The remains were recovered and brought to the Medical Examiner's Office were skull and teeth samples were retained pending possible DNA analysis.
