Description

On 9/12/23, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office contacted the Yuma County Medical Examiner's Office in reference to skeletal remains located in the desert area on the Barry Goldwater Range, south of Aztec, Arizona. The remains were originally located by US Border Patrol Agents attempting to locate undocumented immigrants in the surrounding area. The remains consisted of multiple vertebrae, several long bones, multiple ribs, several bone fragments, and a skull with mandible. The remains were recovered and brought to the Medical Examiner's Office were samples of a femur and teeth were retained pending possible DNA analysis.
