Description

On 12/5/23 the Yuma County Sheriff's Office contacted the Medical Examiner's Office in reference to skeletal remains located in the desert area south of Tacna, Arizona southeast of Betty Lee Mine. The remains were initially located by hikers in the area. Remains consisted of a skull, two scapula, a humerus, a radius, a broken pelvis, a femur, a tibia, multiple ribs, and multiple vertebrae. A broken cellphone, a white lighter, and peso coins were located with the remains. The remains were recovered and brought to the Medical Examiner's office where skull and teeth samples were retained pending possible DNA analysis.
