Description

On 1/20/2024 the Yuma County Sheriff's Office contacted the Medical Examiner's Office regarding skeletal remains located in the desert area south of Tacna, Arizona, southwest of Betty Lee Mine. The remains were initially located by archeologists working in the area. The remains were located with a 50 peso note, Nike shoes, a piece of carpet, and a sun faded, unknown size and brand of denim pants. Remains recovered consisted of pieces of the pelvis, multiple vertebrae, several long bones, multiple ribs, and other smaller bone fragments. The remains were recovered and brought to the Medical Examiner's Office where a femur sample was retained pending possible DNA evidence.
