Description
Highway maintenance workers discovered body lying beneath a Palo Verde tree at Mile Post 18 along the west travel lanes of Interstate 40. He was wearing a gray "Banana Republic" sweatshirt, tan jeans with no namebrand or size, but a button with 5 stars, a rope belt, two black and white highly worn "Voit" ankle high tennis shoes, size 12 and two white socks. A tan winter coat was next to him a full set of chess pieces found wrapped in sleeve of the coat. Also found were 4 multi-colored lighters, smoking tobacco, a small pair of scissors and nail clippers. Subject had gray hair and a full gray beard. Fingerprints were taken by MCSO with negative hits received. . . last known date run through FBI and AFIS is 9/8/09. Teeth were examined and charted by Dr. Birkby at the Forensic Science Center in Tucson, AZ. Dr. Birkby sent dental x-rays to the California DOJ in 1998.
