Description

On 6/17/2020 at 0859 hours, the ferryboat captain was driving the ferry when at approximately at 100 yards from Pier 1 Gate E, he noticed the subject floating face down in the water. On 6/17/2020 at 0901 hours, the ferryboat captain called 9-1-1. The Coast Guard and SFFD Fire Boat 3 were dispatched. On 6/17/2020 at 0904 hours, the Coast Guard and Fire Boat 3 had visual of the subject floating in the water. The Coast Guard helped Fire Boat 3 with the extraction of the subject out of the water and on-board Fire Boat 3. Fire Boat 3 transported the subject to Pier 26. At Pier 26, it was discovered the subject was beyond any life-saving efforts. Death was pronounced on 6/17/2020 at 0915 hours. This office was notified at 0920 hours. On scene, at Pier 26, the subject was presented in a floating gurney with a yellow medic blanket and in a white body bag. The subject was cold to the touch with rigor mortis not present. No evidence of trauma or foul play was spotted on the subject. The subject was in a severe stage of decomposition with water life damage on various spots of the upper and lower extremities, skin slippage, facial distortion, and a foul odor.
