Description

Unknown Doe #268 consists of skeletal remains of unknown gender and residence discovered on 11/24/2025 in the sand below the Cliff House, to the right of Ocean Beach Stairway No. 1, after a passerby recognized the remains as human and called 9-1-1. San Francisco Fire Department medics pronounced death at 1655 hours. The remains were found in a fetal position on the right side, partially covered in sand, with blackened bones and clothing emitting a smoke odor, and soot and ash present beneath the body. Clothing included jeans and brief-style underwear around the ankles, a shirt on the back, and size 44 slip-on shoes beneath the body; the clothing appeared to be female. No identification was located. No obvious trauma could be assessed due to the condition, and no evidence, medications, or measurable postmortem changes were documented.
