Description

On August 2nd, 1969, this unidentified man, who appears to be approximately 18 to 25 years of age and may have Hispanic roots or origins, left from New York City by Napierville Junction RR train no. 9 and arrived in Canada at Montreal, Quebec. Prior to leaving New York, he had reported to the draft board on Broadway and 52nd and they had directed him to report to Fort Dix, New Jersey. That is when he decided to flee to Canada. On August 5th, 1969, he attempted to return to the U. S. when the U. S. Immigration at Champlain, New York State refused him re-entry because he was unable to convince him he was born and raised in New York City. He claims he was born at home with birth never registered with the state. Sent back to Canada, he subsequently settled in the Toronto, Ontario, Canada area and has remained since while attempts to verify / establish his true identity and verify his New York City birthplace continue. We know this subject was present in New York City for many years well documented from at least 1960 to 1969, and claims he was born in Manhattan where he spent his youth. Prior to leaving New York, he claims he spent a lot of time in the area of 3rd Avenue and 47th or 48th Street and may have attended the Greek Orthodox Church on 24th street between 8th and 9th Avenues. We have very strong reason to believe he had and likely still has family in the U. S. and possibly in the New York City area where he claimed to have lived with his parents and sibling(s) prior to August 1969. His father may have been a seaman. This Agency is seeking the aid of the public in assisting us to positively establish his true identity and nationality and locate his family members, ideally.
