Description
On November 29, 1994, John Bower was working at the Jefferson Water Treatment Plant when he observed what he thought was a rubber doll, which was floating in the first dump pit of the sewer. He retrieved the object and called the Ashe County Sheriff's Office. The object was a fetus which appeared to be approximately six months old. The fetus was transported on November 30, 1994, to the Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem where an autopsy was conducted. The autopsy revealed that the fetus had been dead at birth.
