Description
On August 16th at approximately 1100 hours, members of a construction crew discovered an exposed bone in a neighborhood flanked by marshland. The bone was then transported to the Folly Beach Public Safety headquarters for safekeeping. We subsequently retrieved the bone from Folly Beach Public Safety headquarters and transported it back to the Charleston County Coroner's Office for storage and further analysis. The bones were analyzed and determined to be not of medicolegal significance. According to data collected on ArchSite, the location of the site is relative to a federal fort from the Civil War. After consideration, no steps for exploratory excavation were taken.
