Debra's purse was recovered at an outer banks marina by an unknown truck driver who then allegedly turned over to her roommate/boyfriend at the motel where she worked and lived a few days after her disappearance. It was returned to her mother by her boyfriend/roommate.

In 2013, Debra's mother said she did not know what Debra was wearing when she went missing, however, Debra always wore 'Lee' jeans and a denim jacket or possibly a black leather jacket. Due to the time of year of Debra's disappearance, she most likely would have been wearing the jacket/coat. She further stated that she liked to wear t-shirts with her jeans.

Debra did not wear glasses.

Debra's mother said she often wore 'sneakers', an inexpensive kind, and not a particular brand.

Debra's mother said she did not wear a lot of jewelry, but did have pierced ears. She said she often wore black onyx stud earrings that her mother gave her.
